I teach Economics at the Department of Economics & Politics, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India. Prior to joining Visva Bharati University I was associated with Balurghat College of North Bengal University as Assistant Professor in Economics. I have received my B.Sc (Economics) and M.Sc (Economics with International Trade as specialization) from the University of Calcutta, India. Awarded with M. Phil in Economics from the same institution. I got my PhD from Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta, India and also received National Scholarship from the Government of India and Junior Research Fellowship by the University Grants Commission. I am also a recipient of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship to visit Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. I did my post-doctoral study at the Department of Economics of University at Albany-SUNY, Albany, NY, USA as a C. V. Raman Fellow. My primary area of research is International Trade and Development. However, very recently my research interest has been extended from Trade and Development to Economics of Health and Health Care.
